The journalist Paul Lewis exposes us in his talk two real cases of crimes, which were resolved using the statement of eyewitnesses, found through social networks. With these testimonies, in both cases, he managed to discredit the official versions, which were false.

Undoubtedly, social networks have radically changed the situation. Every person with a Smartphone can immediately become a producer of information and news. Current technology allows each person, who witnesses a newsworthy event, to become a narrator and a live video broadcaster. This means that the news can reach the public in real time, and with global and immediate diffusion.

On the other hand, there may be some cases in which the information is not accurate, or is manipulated by deceit or deliberate disinformation, causing the public to spread and credibility to facts that are not true.
